Editorial Policy
Every article on HydroHearth is written to help well water homeowners make better decisions about their water supply. This policy explains how we create and maintain that content.
How we research
Our content draws on firsthand experience managing a private well, supplemented by data from authoritative sources: the EPA, state health departments, NSF International, water testing laboratories, and peer-reviewed research on water quality. When we cite data or make factual claims, we link to the source.
What we write about
We cover topics where we can provide practical, experience-based guidance -- diagnostics, filtration, hardware, maintenance, and well-septic interactions. We do not write about topics outside our expertise just to fill a content calendar.
Independence from advertisers
No advertiser, affiliate partner, or product manufacturer has editorial input on our content. Affiliate relationships do not influence what we recommend. See our Affiliate Disclosure for details on how we earn revenue.
Corrections and updates
If we publish something incorrect, we fix it. Significant corrections are noted at the top of the article. Articles covering evolving topics (product recommendations, regulatory changes) are reviewed periodically and updated when the information is no longer current. Updated articles display a "last updated" date.
What this site is not
HydroHearth provides educational information. It is not a substitute for professional water testing, licensed well contractor services, or medical advice. When a situation requires a professional, we say so.
